Friend Of The Kitchen: Jeff Robinson Jeff Robinson has been performing comedy since high school, and at age 30 he still has not got it out of his system. Robinson also might be known as the King of the Comedy Contests.  Earlier this year, he won a radio joke contest and got the chance to open for Bobcat Goldthwait at the Columbus, Ohio Funny Bone.  He also won the Funny Bone’s Comedy Survivor contest and will emcee for a week in July with Brian Regan as the headliner. Robinson started winning comedy contests while at Miami University.  He also eventually opened for touring comics booked at the school and hosted the Comedy Caravan at Ozzy’s Balcony in Oxford, Ohio. After college, he emceed the weekly show at the Cambridge, Ohio Holiday Inn and opened for people like Dow Thomas and J. Medicine Hat. In January, Robinson again started a regular emcee gig when he began hosting show at The Blue Cat in Bellefontaine, Ohio.  Besides hosting, Robinson also serves as booker for that room. The Blue Cat shows are scheduled at 9 p.m. the first and third Sunday of each month. In case anyone is wondering what Robinson does in his day job, he’s a full-time staff writer for Ohio Magazine.
